The steel structure and insect netting meet US-export greenhouse certification requirements: fine mesh keeps pests out, while shade screens, water walls and circulation fans regulate temperature and humidity. Greenhouses are zoned by growth stage to raise healthy plants that meet the quarantine standards of every destination market.
The phalaenopsis is a succulent that flowers on the strength of nutrients stored in its leaf cells and a healthy, vigorous root system. From flask seedlings through young and large plants to spiking plants, each stage is raised in its own zone, delivering flowering quality among the best in Taiwan. Health begins with virus-free stock: every batch of outsourced (OEM) tissue-culture flask seedlings is screened for viruses batch-by-batch at deflasking, and any batch testing positive for CymMV (Cymbidium mosaic virus) or ORSV (Odontoglossum ringspot virus) is destroyed in full — so only virus-free stock enters the greenhouse, protecting the mother plants and all downstream production.
Before planting, growing media is soaked in 80°C hot water for 30 minutes per US-export greenhouse rules, thoroughly eliminating pathogens, insect eggs and weed seeds; growing trays are disinfected with chlorine powder before reuse. Irrigation water passes through UV light, high-concentration ozone and nano-bubble treatment before entering the greenhouse — from media and trays to every drop of water, cross-contamination is stopped at the source, cutting pathogen spread and pesticide use.
A 1,280 W, 16-tube UV irrigation-water sterilizer uses high-intensity UV to destroy pathogens and viruses.
High-concentration ozone disinfection oxidizes powerfully, then reverts naturally to oxygen, leaving no residue.
A Japanese-imported nano-bubble sterilizer raises dissolved oxygen with ultra-fine bubbles and strengthens disinfection.
Sphagnum moss is the most critical growing medium for phalaenopsis. LIHSIN uses only moss harvested during the Chilean summer — when its quality is highest and weed seeds are minimal, the key to clean, weed-free plants. Because winter-harvested moss is inconsistent, we import and stockpile heavily during the Chilean summer to cover Taiwan's needs year-round, so every batch is potted in the same top-grade medium.
The facility has a precooling room and a standardized packing line: plants are cleaned, sleeved and graded into boxes, then precooled at low temperature and shipped in full refrigerated containers directly to the destination port. For three decades we have delivered on time and on spec to markets including the US, Canada, the EU, Japan and South Africa.
Each year we sow around 150 hand-pollinated seed pods and select the finest 50 from roughly 20,000 seedlings for trial and evaluation; the best performers are mass-produced by clonal propagation and filed for plant-variety rights with the Ministry of Agriculture under the "LiHsin" name. To date we hold 24 of our own phalaenopsis variety rights, with more than twenty additional cultivars under examination — a colour portfolio unique to LIHSIN. For higher yield and efficiency, LIHSIN also develops and refines its own equipment, automation controls and environmental-monitoring systems in-house, and holds multiple Taiwan (ROC) invention and utility-model patents on items such as its self-designed planting trays (inventor: Hsu Li-Jen). Breeding and technology are what keep us ahead.
